NILES - Mrs. Elizabeth M. Starkey, 84, of West Church Street, passed away at 6:58 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2012, at St. Elizabeth Health Center.
Mrs. Starkey was born Jan. 21, 1928, in Morgantown, W.Va., the daughter of Solathiel Alonzo and Martha Rose Able Whitehair.
A 1946 graduate of University High School, she was a member of the Niles First United Methodist Church, and was a member of both Elizabeth and Rachel Circles.

She had been employed by the former Packard Electric for 20 years, retiring in 1985.
An avid bowler, she participated in several leagues.
Her husband, Oddie H. Starkey, whom she married Dec. 25, 1945, preceded her in death on Sept. 6, 1999. She was also preceded in death by a son, Richard L., and a sister, Dorothy Casteel.
Survivors include a daughter, Elizabeth Anne "Beth" (Edward) Champion of Fort Myers, Fla.; four sons, Jeffrey L. (Sue) of Champion; Harrell R. (Becky) of Johnson, Franklin B. (Nancy) of Liberty and Michael A. (Lisa) of Warren; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held 4 p.m. Sunday at the chapel of the Niles First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Nathan Howe officiating.
The family requests that material tributes take the form of contributions to the First United Methodist Church, 608 N. Crandon Ave., Niles, OH 44446.
Arrangements and care have been entrusted to the Robert P. McDermott Memorial Home.
