Dan Morris 1923-2012

WARREN - Dan "Duke" Morris, 89, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2012, at Trumbull Memorial Hospital.

He was born Aug. 12, 1923, in Warren, the son of Samuel and Simica Moros.

Duke was a lifelong Warren resident and a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in World War II.

Duke attended St. Elijah Serbian Orthodox Church and enjoyed spending time with his family, watching golf, football and baseball, especially the Atlanta Braves, and listening to Serbian music. He also enjoyed helping anyone in need, given the opportunity. Duke was also a proud member of the VFW.

He will be dearly missed by two daughters, Danette D. Werner of Howland and Tammy L. (Michael) Culler of Champion; three grandchildren, Lindsey Werner of Cortland, and Brooke and Daniel Culler of Champion; and two sisters, Dorthy Martinovich and Zora Vinovich.

Duke was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Ruth, whom he married Sept. 3, 1954; a son-in-law, Robert Werner; a sister, Mildred; and his parents.

Friends will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Roberts-Clark Chapel.

A private burial service with military honors will occur Saturday in Howland Township Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Ohio's Choice Home Health & Hospice, 1520 E. Market St, Warren, OH 44483.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Lane Family Funeral Homes, Roberts-Clark Chapel.
