HUBBARD - Fire officials are investigating an overnight fire that heavily damaged the iconic Emerald Diner on North Street.
Fire crews from Hubbard and Brookfield responded to the blaze they said started around 4:45 a.m., but was contained quickly.
Still, the railroad car restaurant sustained heavy damage. Estimates of the losses have not yet been determined. No injuries were reported and the restaurant was not open when the fire broke out.

Hubbard's Emerald Diner is closed today after a fire heavily damaged the railroad car restaurant overnight.
Route 7 and Route 62, between the railroad tracks and Maple Grove, were blocked off to traffic as crews worked to extinguish the fire.
Those roads have since re-opened.
