Doris A. Barnes 1921-2012

VIENNA - Doris A. Barnes, 88, died Saturday morning, Aug. 25, 2012, at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown.

She was born May 4, 1921, in Mercer, the daughter of George F. and Florence E. Pew Swingle, and was a lifelong area resident.

Mrs. Barnes, a graduate of Mercer High School, worked for Westinghouse for four years and previously worked for the Trumbull County Agriculture Stabilization Conservation Service for 20 years, retiring July 27, 1989.

She was a member of Big Bend United Methodist Church in Mercer and attended Fowler United Methodist Church in Fowler. Doris was a member of Fowler United Methodist Women and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.

Doris truly loved her family and enjoyed cooking and playing cards. She also belonged to the Birthday Club of Mercer.

Her husband, Harlan A. Barnes, whom she married Nov. 23, 1944, died April 16, 2003.

Doris leaves a daughter, Pamela (David) Lupo of Struthers, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, Dennis D. Barnes; three brothers, Donald, Charles "Chum" and Wallace Swingle; and a sister, Letha Snyder.

Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Kelley-Robb-Cummins Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Kelley-Robb-Cummins Funeral Home.

Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Interment will be at Hubbard Union Cemetery.
