WARREN - Althea Beken Province, 85, formerly of Scottdale, Pa., died unexpectedly Friday, Aug. 24, 2012, in Metro Health Medical Hospital, Cleveland, while being comforted by her loving grandchildren.
Althea was born Sept. 22, 1926, in Mount Pleasant, Pa., the daughter of the late Edward and Frances Shirey Beken.
She had been the owner / operator of the former Pogo's Curb Service, Scottdale, for 25 years with her late husband, Frank L. "Priz" Province, who died Jan. 6, 1993.
Althea was a loving and caring grandmother to all her grandchildren and sister to her family.
She was also a loving mother to her late son, Frank E. "Pogo" Province, who preceded her in death on March 20, 2012, and her grandson, Joshua S. Province, who died Aug. 19, 2007.
Althea's memories will forever remain in the hearts of her devoted grandchildren whom she loved dearly, Marquel Province Durick, Norvelt, Pa., Christopher Province of Mount Pleasant, Mindy Province of Orlando, Fla., and Jabin, Nathan, Jared and Jason Province, all of Warren, with whom she resided. She is also survived by her three devoted great-granddaughters, Courtney and Kayla Durick and Nina Province; her loving sister and brothers, Ruth Beken West of Akron, Don (Cindy) Beken of North Carolina and Ron (Nancy) Beken of Akron; her sister-in-law, Frances Nutter of Mount Pleasant; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Althea's family will greet friends from 2 to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Frank Kapr Funeral Home Inc., 417 W. Pittsburgh St., Scottdale, Pa., where a Blessing Service will immediately follow with the Rev. E. George Saletrik, pastor of St. John The Baptist R.C. Church, Scottdale.
Committal services and interment will immediately follow in St. John The Baptist Cemetery, Scottdale.
