WARREN - A Delaware Avenue couple is looking for a new neighborhood after their house was riddled with gunshots and their car set ablaze early this morning.
Police arrived at 629 Delaware about 4 a.m. to find a 2000 Ford engulfed in flames and spent .223 caliber shell casings strewn over the ground near the house, according to a police report.
Tonya and Jargel Davis emerged from the house to tell police they had rolled out of their bed onto the floor when they heard the shots.
A police report said several holes were found in the south and west sides of the house. Tonya Davis, sister Tammy Sladewski, said all but the back side of the house had been shot. Police recovered 17 shell casings from the scene and the burning vehicle caused heat damage to the house.
Sladewski said the TV, several family photos and some dressers were damaged as well.
Jargel Davis told police he does not know who would do this. The couple is staying with family until they find permanent residence elsewhere, Sladewski said.
Police continue to investigate.
