Marilyn J. Melillo 1947-2012

NILES - Marilyn J. Melillo, 65, of Niles died Sunday Aug. 19, 2012, at The Cleveland Clinic with family by her side.

She was born Jan. 2, 1947, in Niles, the daughter of Edward and Helen Kish Scarnecchia.

She was a 1965 graduate of Niles McKinley High School, married her high school sweetheart, Phil, soon after, had two sons and enjoyed a lifetime in Niles tending to her herb gardens, cooking fine foods and being with and loving her family.

Through the years, Marilyn enjoyed sewing and teaching classes at Stretch and Sew Fabrics, was a kindergarten aide at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic School in Niles and was also employed in the deli at Macali's Giant Eagle and Cicero's Market, retiring in 2002.

Marilyn was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Niles and enjoyed sewing, golfing, cooking, gardening, designing and selling clothes and making jewelry.

She will be deeply missed by her husband, Philip John Melillo, whom she married Feb. 17, 1968; two sons, Frank (Erin) Melillo of Niles and Philip James Melillo of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia; sisters, Rebecca (Paul) Noftsinger of Howland, Donna (Richard) Natoli of Girard and Debbie Scarnecchia of Hubbard; and mother-in-law, Marie Melillo of Niles.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Edmond J. Scarnecchia; and a sister, Bonita Scarnecchia.

A memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Niles with the Rev. John-Michael Lavelle officiating. The family will receive friends after Mass.
