DEAR EDITOR:
This November in the general election, everyone who casts a ballot will be voting for three very important elements - our economy, our values and, most importantly, our liberty. More than ever Americans need to understand the overwhelming importance of this election if this country is to survive.
The only choice is to vote for the candidate who will free us from the chains of government that hold us back, regulate every aspect of our lives and take away our freedoms - freedoms to choose and to live as our Founding Fathers intended for us to live.
I have asked several people if they voted for President Obama in the last election and I am astonished at those who honestly and regretfully tell me that they did indeed vote for him. I listen intently, shocked and disappointed. To vote for a candidate whose resume consists of being a public speaker, a community organizer and a young and inexperienced U.S. Senator for four years is hardly enough to qualify him to become president of this United States. I do believe our battle-weary nation voted for the slogan "hope and change" and did not look at the qualifications, principles and ideology of this candidate in 2008. Let's face it. He was the wrong choice for this country then and is the wrong choice now. We cannot afford to make this mistake again.
Why would anyone vote for a leader who believes in the redistribution of wealth, has in three and a half years increased our national debt by $5.2 trillion and created the $800 billion Stimulus that sputtered and is viewed as a failure by many and the Great Recession? Also, may I remind you of the Rev. Wright situation, and our president who apologized for the United States in every country abroad, used his office to appoint czars not confirmed by Congress and answer to no one except President Obama. Other reminders include the government takeover of the auto industry, whereby GM still owes the government $25 billion and the Keystone Pipeline that could have created thousands of jobs. The list of negatives is endless.
President Obama promised to bring the people of this country together, to heal our land, and yet he constantly delivers divisive speeches with his shameless class warfare tactics - pitting American against American. In that regard, he has done more harm than good for this country and it is now time for hope and change of another kind.
I can't really say that I blame President Obama for all of this because he has his selected advisers and many from his party offering political support, etc., but I do blame the people who voted for him and put him in power because they simply did not do their homework prior to the election and did not put their country first when they cast their vote.
