AUSTINTOWN -- The southbound lane of state route 11 remained closed at least five hours after a semi tractor-trailer slammed into the Kirk Road overpass, killing the driver.
Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers said Roger Watkins, 55, of Youngstown, was killed after his truck veered off the right side of the southbound lane, hitting a tree and then the bridge support shortly before 5 a.m. today.
A witness said the vehicle was in several pieces.
Troopers said at 10 a.m. that they had no idea when the southbound lane would open since engineers were checking the support for safety.
