KEY WEST, Fla. - John "Richard" Collins, 71, died Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2012, at his residence.
He was born July 18, 1941, in Key West, the son of Houston "Rip" and Jesse Whitmarsh Collins.
Richard was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving in the Vietnam War. He was later chief of police in Brookfield.
Survivors include his wife, Kathleen; a daughter, Christine; a son, Matthew of Naples; two brothers, Edward "Larry" of Lithia, Fla., and William of Melbourne, Fla.; and three grandchildren.
A celebration of his life will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday upstairs at the American Legion Post 28 in Key West.
Arrangements are being handled by the Dean-Lopez Funeral Home in Key West.
