CORTLAND - Fred W. Beaumont, 92, died Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012, at Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren.
He was born on June 30, 1920, in Belle Vernon, Pa., the son of the late Albert and Flora Lane Beaumont.
Fred was a World War II U.S. Army veteran who fought in the Battle of the Bulge and was awarded the Bronze Star, Good Conduct Metal, American Campaign Metal, European - African-Middle Eastern Campaign Metal and Silver Star attachment, WWII Victory Metal and an Honorable Service Lapel Button. He then worked as a security guard for Packard Electric for 33 years before retiring in 1978. He was a 60-year member of Masonic Lodge 529 and Cortland Christian Church.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mary McDade Beaumont; two sons, Lynn A. (Bonnie) Beaumont of Rittman and Bruce L. (Mindy) Beaumont of China; five grandchildren, Matthew R. (Carla) Beaumont, Kari L. (Aaron) Ide, Kathryn (Ed) Burk, Laura Beaumont and Michael Beaumont; five great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Betty Brookes of Cortland and Lois Brookes of Niles. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Albert, Donald and Clayton Beaumont.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Cortland Christian Church, 153 Grove St., Cortland. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. A private interment will be held at a later date at the Western Reserve National Cemetery.
