Blaine E. Ressler Sr. 1922-2012

WARREN - Blaine Edward Ressler Sr., 90, died Friday, Aug. 10, 2012, at Windsor House in Champion.

He was born March 22, 1922, in Robinson, Pa., the son of Lawrence E. and Laura E. Simmons Ressler.

Mr. Ressler graduated from Greene Township High School in Commodore, Pa., class of 1940.

He started his career working in the coal mines in the Barrslope Mines in Dixonville, Pa. Moving to Warren, he worked for ITT Grinnell and retired after 34 years of service.

Blaine was an avid sportsman, fisherman and hunter. He was a lifetime member of the Leavittsburg Fish and Game Association, and a lifetime member of the Niles Western Reserve Protection Association. He was a musician, and played electric bass guitar in many local bands.

He was married to Betty Beer and had a son, Blaine E. (Ann) Ressler Jr. of Niles; and a daughter, Ora Jean (Bill) Joseph of South Carolina.

He married Phyllis Huchok in 1963, and is survived by one son, Lawrence Ressler of Ohio; a daughter, Margaret Ressler (Roger Cortez) of California; a stepdaughter, Vickie (Ivor) Todd of Florida; a stepson, Danny (Cindy) Phillips of Alabama and eight grandchildren.

Preceding him in death was his wife, Phyllis, who passed away in 1991; his sister, Wanita Jacobson of Brookfield; and a stepdaughter, Patty Phillips, who passed in 2006, of Leavittsburg.

Arrangements are entrusted to McFarland & Son Funeral and Cremation Services, 271 N. Park Ave., Warren.

The family has requested there be no calling hours or services.

The entire Ressler family would like to express a special thank you to everyone who has helped them care for their father during his illness over the past few years. Blaine E. Ressler Sr. was loved by many, many friends, co-workers, caregivers and family members, and he will be missed by all.
