WINCHESTER, Tenn. - Betty J. Silva, 84, formerly of Poplar Avenue, Niles, passed away at 6:34 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, 2012, in Golden Living Mountainview Living Center, Winchester, following an extended illness.
Betty was born May 13, 1928, in Mineral Ridge, the daughter of Arthur and Ruth Hughes Hardwick. A 1946 graduate of Mineral Ridge High School, she was a member of the former First United Methodist Church of Mineral Ridge.
An area resident most of her life, she had been employed by the FBI in the Identification Division. She had also been employed by the Mahoning-Trumbull Building and Trades Welfare Fund.
Her husband, Edward J. Silva, whom she married Oct. 1, 1948, preceded her in death in 1981.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen (Leonard) Houser of Alexandria, Va.; three granddaughters, Deborah, Emily and Lindsey; and four great-grandchildren, Haley, Jimmy, Katy and Zoe.
Funeral services were held Friday at the Robert P. McDermott Memorial Home.
Burial was in Kerr Cemetery.
