TULSA, Okla. - Elizabeth Sweetman-Sipes, 59, also known as Betsy Plant, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, July 26, 2012, after a two-year battle with cancer.
Elizabeth was born April 13, 1953, in Butler, Pa., the daughter of John and Helen Sweetman, and lived in Warren from 1954 to 1997.
She graduated from Howland High School, then from Kent State University, majoring in naturopathy.

She moved to Oklahoma in 1997, where she met and married Dr. James Sipes on her birthday in 2001.
She was a vibrant lover of life who had a positive impact on anyone she got to know. She worked in the natural foods industry alongside her husband, James, who was a doctor of chiropractic. She loved to share her naturopathy knowledge and skills, and would share with anyone her relationship with God.
She also loved music, sang and played the piano in several churches in the Warren area and also in Tulsa. She was an amazing mother, always putting her children first.
Several years ago, Elizabeth began to fall in love with turtles. That passion continued with her rescuing and caring for multiple tortoises until her untimely death, Sunshine being her favorite. She was a lover of all animals.
She is survived by her father, John Sweetman of Warren; her children, Renee Plant of Sandy, Utah, Tom (Jennifer) Plant of Orwell and Jon (Jamie) Plant of Gainesville, Va.; her sisters, Arthea (Jim) O'Hara of Warren and Dianne (Ross) Whetson of Farmdale; brothers, Richard Sweetman of Warren and Charles (Darlene) Sweetman of Cleveland; five grandsons, Scotty and Casey Plant, and Andy, Jack and Paul Plant; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother, grandparents and her husband, Dr. James Sipes.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 5 p.m. Aug. 18 at Bailey Road Baptist Church in North Jackson. "Please come and share with us wonderful memories of Elizabeth. We all miss her!"
Accommodations were provided by Kennedy-Kennard Funeral and Cremation Services in Tulsa.
