TROY, N.Y. - The Mahoning Valley Scrappers were almost completely shut down in a 5-1 loss to the Tri-City ValleyCats Monday night.
The Scrappers tied the game 1-1 in the top of the sixth inning when Evan Frazar doubled home Joe Sever. Tri-City scored twice in the sixth inning and once each in the seventh and eighth innings to pull away.
Preston Tucker hit his second home run of the season in the eighth off Mahoning Valley reliever Luis Encarnacion for the game's final run.
The Scrappers return home tonight for a two-game series against Williamsport. The first pitch is at 7:05.
