CORTLAND - Dean H. Wilms, 84, of Champion, died at 5:21 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 5, 2012, at Lake Vista Nursing Home in Cortland.
He was born Dec. 25, 1927, in Braceville, the son of the late Gary and Thelma Jewell Wilms.
He was a graduate of Braceville High School and retired after 40 years of service as a tool crib attendant from Packard Electric in Warren.

He was an honorably discharged U.S. Navy veteran, having served during World War II.
Dean attended Champion Presbyterian Church. He was a member of the American Legion Post 0699 and the Royal Moose Lodge 106 and he enjoyed gardening.
Survivors include his son, Gary W. (Linda) Wilms of Champion; two grandchildren, Heather (Chris) Shrodek of Champion and Michael Wilms of Columbus; two great-grandchildren, Zoey and Zaine Shrodek, both of Champion; and two very close friends who provided support to the family during his difficult time, Tim and Shana Thomas.
Mr. Wilms was preceded in death by his wife, the former Doris Lowrie, and one brother, Wayne Wilms.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home, Warren, where Pastor Ken Hopkins will celebrate Dean's life. Family and friends may visit from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and also one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
He will be laid to rest next to his wife at Champion Township Cemetery.
