CHAMPION - Samuel Owen Moss, 82, of Champion, entered into eternal rest on Monday, Aug. 6, 2012, in the emergency room at Trumbull Memorial Hospital.
Samuel was born July 5, 1930, in Newton Falls, the son of the late Harry Erton and Erma Estaline McClain Moss.
Sam married his loving wife, Vera May Hayes, on Oct. 17, 1951, and they raised four children together.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Sam worked at Republic Steel and then as a rolling mill operator at Packard Electric for 38-and-a-half years, retiring in 1991.
He was a very active member of the First Church of God in Newton Falls, serving as a Sunday school teacher, chairman on the board of trustees and for many years on church council. He also served as elder at the Harvest Point Church of God in Lordstown.
Sam was also very active in scouting for many years and was an assistant troop scout master for Troop 67 and committee member for more than 40 years.
He was a member of the Leavittsburg American Legion and Trumbull County Commander and chaplain. He was also a member of The Ohio State Highway Patrol Auxiliary for the Southington Post.
Memories of Sam will be carried on by his loving wife, Vera May Moss of Champion; his daughter, Debra (the Rev. Neil) Anderson of Owatonna, Minn.; sons, the Rev. Robert (Renee) Moss of Dayton, Raymond Moss of Olathe, Kan., and Edward (Deborah) Moss of Cortland; a former daughter-in-law, Rebecca Moss of Milford, Ind.; two sisters, Vera (Robert) Good of Allegany, N.Y., and Sue (Robert) Hamilton of Cortland; a brother, Charles (Frances) Moss; seven grandchildren, Amber Friesen, Marcus Anderson, Brandon Moss, Erin Taylor, Deanne Perry, Adam Moss and Miranda Moss; and four great-grandchildren, Ryan Anderson, Krista and Samuel Moss,and William Taylor.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Ada Ruth Church, Alda ''Curly'' Gordon and Almira Rood, and a brother, Robert Earl Moss.
Calling hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the James Funeral Home in Newton Falls, where funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday.
Burial will be at Champion Township Cemetery.
The family ask that contributions be made to the Building Fund at Harvest Point Church of God, 6100 Tod Ave., No. 4, Warren, OH 44481.
