HUBBARD - Hubbard city and township Fraternal Orders of Police will host the 29th annual National Night Out crime and drug prevention event from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Harding Park bandstand.

The safety forces along with thousands of communities nationwide will take part in the annual event with this being the third year for Hubbard Township to participate.

The event has become known as America's Night Out Against Crime.

Hubbard Township police Chief Todd Coonce said the event will include a car show next to the Kyle Pavilion, a softball game between Hubbard township and city at 4 p.m., food, raffles, face painting and music.

National Night Out will involve more than 15,000 communities form all 50 states.

Coonce said residents are being asked to lock their doors, turn on the outside lights and spend the evening in the park with neighbors and police.

Coonce said the event is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for and participation in anti-crime efforts, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police community partnerships, and send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
