YOUNGSTOWN - Humility of Mary Health Partners will unveil its new St. Elizabeth Robotic Surgery Center at noon Thursday.
Robot-assisted surgery is an advanced treatment option available for patients suffering from a wide range of medical conditions. HMHP is the only health care system in the six-county region to offer robot-assisted surgery, according to the health system.
Robot-assisted surgery is a minimally invasive option to traditional "open" surgery resulting in less blood loss, less pain, less scarring and quicker recovery for patients, according to the system.
Since it was introduced at St. Elizabeth Health Center in 2007, robotic surgery has been used for urological, gynecological, general and thoracic procedures. Nearly 900 robot-assisted surgeries have been completed at St. Elizabeth.
