LIBERTY -- Police said the pregnant woman that was shot early this morning was in stable condition when she was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center and that her unborn baby was unharmed in the attack.

After the shooting, police said a frantic Tadarrell D. Mason, 19, of 1465 Townsend Ave., went to the police station and pounded on the doors before an off-duty Hubbard Township officer apprehended him while walking on state Route 304.

Police said the woman, Jaimeela L. Montgomery, 21, also of 1465 Townsend Ave., where the shooting took place, was taken to St. Elizabeth where she underwent surgery Monday. Investigators said she was in stable condition at the time and that ultrasounds indicated her unborn child was unharmed.

Mason is being held on suspicion of two counts of felonious assault.
