WAC 14U softball loses in semifinals

July 23, 2012
Tribune Chronicle | TribToday.com

SHELBYVILLE, Ind. - The Warren Athletic Club 14U softball team ended its run Sunday with a 4-0 loss to New Washington in a Babe Ruth regional semifinal game. The WAC team ended the 50-team tournament with a 4-3 record and 28-3 overall. Tatyana Defoor took the loss for the WAC team, while Anaya Langford had a triple and Payton Thompson added a double. Manager Jeff Dukes hopes his team takes this experience into their respective high school teams. "It was excellent," Dukes said of the tournament experience. "We lost to a team we could've well beat. We ran out of gas. We haven't played that many games - two a day. That was a great experience for those girls. They saw what it was like to play against stiffer competition. Hopefully they will carry this experience on to their high school teams next year."
