Anastasos Mahramas 1937-2012

WARREN - Anastasos "Tassos" Mahramas, 74, of Warren, died at noon Saturday, July 21, 2012, at Trumbull Memorial Hospital after a six-week battle with cancer.

He was born Oct. 12, 1937, in Rhodes, Greece, the son of Fotios and Hraklia Pappanicolaou Mahramas.

Tassos came to Warren in 1969. He retired in 1999 from GM BOC Fab Plant in the stamping department as a loader after 28 years.

He was a member of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, Pan Rhodian Society and the AHEPA Zeus Chapter 88. Tassos enjoyed gardening and traveling to Greece.

He served in the Greek Navy.

He is survived by his wife, Evangelia Anastasides Mahramas, whom he married Aug. 23, 1962; his children, Fotios "Frank" Mahramas of Howland and George (Gina) Mahramas of Howland; and his grandchildren, Anastsia, Mikayla, George Jr. and Sophia Mahramas.

Besides his parents, Tassos was preceded in death by two brothers, Vasilios and Mihailo Mahramas, and a sister, Grammatiki Kakkios.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church with the Rev. Constantine Valantasis officiating.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel, where there will be a 5:30 p.m. Trisagion Service, and from noon to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, also at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warren.
