NILES - Carolyn B. Boron, 84, passed away unexpectedly Friday afternoon, July 20, 2012, at her home.
She was born on Aug. 3, 1927, in Johnstown, Pa., the daughter of John and Rose Tyma Mikula.
A graduate of Niles McKinley High School, she worked at Niles General Electric during high school.

For many years, she was the sacristan at St. Joseph Church in Warren and a member of their Altar and Rosary Society.
She was also a member of St. Stephen Church, and enjoyed reading, puzzles, dancing, cooking and baking. Carolyn loved being a mom and having everyone for family dinners, especially with "Grandma's Lasagna," and having leftovers of food for them to take home.
Carolyn is survived by her husband of 60 years, John V. Boron, whom she married on April 21, 1951; six children, Carol (David) Carlin of Las Vegas, Gloria Boron of Charlotte, N.C., Michael (Laura) Boron of Chesapeake, Va., Donna Everhart and her fiance Richard Curl of Newton Falls, Frances (Mick) Pugh of Albion, Neb., and Teresa (Charles) Reilly of Poland; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Dorothy Whetstone and Mary Salapata, both of Niles.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Genevieve Miller, Catherine Verbonaz and Sophie Kuhn; and a brother, John Salapata.
Calling hours will be from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. Wednesday at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home. Mass of Christian burial will follow at 10 a.m. at St. Stephen Church. The Rev. Thomas Kraszewski will be the celebrant.
Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery.
