STRUTHERS - Defending Connie Mack State Champion Astro Falcons kept up their winning ways with an 8-3 victory over the Diamond Boys Tuesday at Cene Park during Day 2 of the 50th annual AABC Connie Mack Ohio State Tournament. Troy Parks got the win, striking out 10 and walking one. Nate McMaster took the loss. Chris Wastchak led Astro with three hits, including a double, drove in two runs and scored a run. Bubba Wells had two hits, two RBIs and scored a run while Dan Popio hit two doubles and scored a run for Astro. Nico DiIanni hit an RBI triple and scored a run, Adam Becker and Brendan Cox each added a hit and an RBI, while James Coates had a hit and scored three times. Matt Unkefer contributed as well with a hit and a run scored. Kendall Pleasant hit a three-run home run for the Diamond Boys. Brian Snyder had two hits and scored.

Creekside Fitness 7, OTN Performance 6: In the bottom of the seventh inning, the OTN defense committed an error to allow Creekside the victory. Mike Ginther picked up the win for Creekside, tossing a scoreless inning in relief. Scott Sency took the loss for OTN, giving up the unearned run in the bottom of the seventh. Justin McGinnis helped lead Creekside with two doubles, two RBIs and a run scored while Jared Wiesan had a triple among his two hits and scored a run. Brandon Ritchie banged out two hits, including a double, and scored a run while Harrison Wagner added two hits and scored twice. Joe Killian had a two-run hit and scored a run, Dan Ferguson hit an RBI double, and Ryan Trimbur contributed to Creekside with a hit and a run scored in the game. Brett Kajganich led OTN with three hits, including a triple, and scored a run while Nick Andrews had three hits of his own and drove in two runs in the game.

Roth Brothers 12, Northern Ohio Hurricanes 2: Roth Brothers came back from an opening round loss to eliminate The Northern Ohio Hurricanes. Mason Miller went the distance for Roth, giving up two runs while scattering nine hits, striking out one batter and not allowing a single walk. Eliach Brook suffered the loss for the Hurricanes, giving up 10 runs in 5 1/3 innings of work. Austin Eppstein had himself a day for Roth, banging out four hits, including a double, while driving in and scoring three runs. Logan Harrah had two hits and scored three times while Joe Tuchek had two hits and scored two runs. Tylor Rhoads had two hits, an RBI and scored a run while Zach Merrell added a hit, an RBI and scored a run. Logan Kane had a double among his two hits and scored a run, Jerrod Palmer had an RBI hit, and Anthony Abeid had a hit and scored a run for Roth. Marco Macali slugged two hits. Kilk Olesick led the Hurricanes with three hits, an RBI and a run scored while Bryan Cox had an RBI hit on the day.

Kuboff & Associates 7, Ohio Yankees 3: Kuboff & Associates got the bats going in the middle innings to eliminate The Ohio Yankees. Jeremy Quinlan went the distance for Kuboff to pick up the win, giving up three runs on five hits, while striking out four and walking only two. Brandon Maddern suffered the loss for the Yankees, giving up six runs over the course of 4 1/3 innings. Sean Coyne and Leonel Flientes each had a hit, two RBIs and a run scored. Flientes' hit was a double. Christian Porterfield hit a double and scored twice, Vince Pitzulo scored two runs, and Greg Popatak scored a run. Eric Martin had a hit and an RBI, while both Kevin Sierra and Brooks Pletcher each banged out two hits in the win for Kuboff. Sal Faetanini and Will Strabrny each hit a solo inside-the-park homerun for the Yankees.

Toyota Of Warren 17, Ohio Orioles White 3: Toyota Of Warren scored early and often as it eliminated the Ohio Orioles White team. Trent Collins with the distance for Toyota, giving up three runs on three hits while striking out three and not yielding a single walk. Joshua Murphy suffered the loss for the Orioles, allowing eleven runs in just 1 1/3 innings of work. Tony Mehle led the way for Toyota with three hits, including a double, three RBIs and four runs scored. Tyler Slepski hit two triples, scored four times and drove in a run while Ryan Halicki had two hits of his own and scored two runs. G.J. Senchak had two hits, two runs scored and an RBI while Edmond Pilolli added two hits and two RBIs in the Toyota victory. Ryan Brumbaugh hit a triple, drove home four runs and scored two runs while Cody Pitzo had an RBI hit and scored two runs. Mike Wittmann had an RBI hit while Anthony Clinkscale scored a run for Toyota. Zachary Garcia and Daniel Cora each had an RBI hit while Alex Jerin banged out a hit and scored a run for the Orioles.

MAF Gators 2, Livi Steel 0: The MAF Gators made Livi Steel the first area team to be eliminated. Roman Salinas took the loss for Livi, allowing just two runs on seven hits, while striking out four and walking only two. Kenny Sanford pitched 6 2/3 innings and picked up the win, while Devin Daugherty recorded the final out to earn the save for the Gators. Jake Foster had two hits to lead Livi, while Pat Carlozzi hit a triple in the game. Ty Wiery had the only other hit in the game for Livi. Luke Raley and Jerid Dissauer each had a hit and scored a run for the Gators.
