HUBBARD - Alfred M. Deane, 86, of Hubbard, entered into rest Thursday, July 12, 2012, at his home.
Alfred was born April 14, 1926, in Hubbard, the son of Thomas and Lorena Kesner Deane, and was a lifelong Hubbard resident. Alfred was a 1944 graduate of Hubbard High School.
He was a self-employed building contractor for 55 years with his company, Deane & Metzger Construction. He was always willing to lend a hand to help family and friends in need.

Alfred honorably served his country in the United States Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theatre.
He was a dedicated member of the Coalburg United Methodist Church for more than 50 years, where he was a lay leader, a Sunday school superintendent, and sang in the choir. He also was instrumental in the building projects of the church and Camp Asbury.
He was a member of the Hubbard VFW Post 3767. He was a 32nd Degree Mason in Youngstown.
Alfred had a love for education and the children of Hubbard. He served on the Hubbard School Board for 16 years. He didn't always take the politically correct route because he always put the needs of the students first.
He also served on the Trumbull County School Board as well as the planning committee for the Trumbull Career and Technical Center.
Alfred devoted many endless hours visiting friends and elderly family members at their residences and nursing homes.
Alfred is survived by his wife, Helen Gault Deane, whom he married on July 1, 1977.
He also leaves his children, Susan Schleeter of Hubbard, Roy (Debbie) Deane of Clearwater, Fla., Jack (Geri) Deane of Hubbard, David Deane of Georgia and Nancy (Mark) Kluga of Coventry, Conn., as well as Glenn (Rosalyn) Gault of Hubbard, and Kathy Mroski (Chuck Montgomery) of Hubbard. Alfred is also survived by his sister, Charlotte Choppa of North Carolina, as well as 15 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Alfred was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Richard Deane.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Coalburg United Methodist Church, 1906 Wick Campbell Road S.E., Hubbard, with Pastor Ray Ake officiating,
Calling hours will be 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Stewart-Kyle Funeral Home in Hubbard, and one hour prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Coalburg United Methodist Church.
Alfred will be laid to rest at Maple Grove Cemetery in Hubbard, where he will receive full military honors from the Trumbull County Honor Guard.
