Charlotte G. Evans 1927-2012

PONTE VEDRA, Fla. - Charlotte Geraldine Brooks Evans, 84, of Ponte Vedra, Fla., died June 24, 2012.

The beloved wife of the late LeRoy Eugene Evans for 67 years and mother of Patricia Evans and James Evans, "Gerry" passed peacefully to the Lord with her daughter at her bedside.

She was born Oct. 25, 1927, in Cortland, the daughter of Merle Brooks and Margaret Sedgewick.

Mrs. Evans graduated from Warren G. Harding High School, Warren, in 1944, and was a resident of Trumbull County until her retirement in 1986, when she and her husband moved to Florida.

In Florida, she had been a resident of Naples, Ocala and most recently Ponte Vedra.

Mrs. Evans was employed as an office manager by Woolco Stores for several decades.

She loved decorating her house, sharing news and views with her neighbors, dancing with her husband, working crossword puzzles and most of all spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She had been a member of the Methodist churches in Mineral Ridge, Ocala, Fla., and Ponte Vedra, Fla. She loved God and life, and was known for being a loving, selfless caregiver for her husband, children and grandchildren.

She is survived by three younger sisters, Flo Lazear, Jane Moore and Nancy Rose; her children; four grandchildren, Tabitha Schneider, Charlotte Schneider, Laura Luebbert and Nathaniel Carlson; and a great-granddaughter, Sierra Schneider.

Mrs. Evans was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and older sister, Margaret (Brooks) Ambrose.

A private family service was held to celebrate her life and its blessings. Mrs. Evans' remains were cremated and will be interred at Kerr Cemetery in Evansville, Ohio.
