PLYMOUTH - Robert James Rice, 65, died Monday, July 2, 2012, at his residence.
He was born Nov. 15, 1946, in Cleveland, the son of Leslie J. and Elizabeth Lucille Rice.
He graduated from North Olmstead High School and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1967 to 1971 and in the U.S. Air Force Reserve from 1982 to 2006. He retired as a master sergeant with job title of crew chief, aircraft mechanic at Vienna Reserve Air Force Base.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing with his grandkids, riding his Harley and reading about history. He took pride in his four dogs and was proud of being a veteran and having served in several wars.
Survivors include his parents; wife, Peggy Rice; two daughters, Rachel Rice and Jennifer (Scott) Merlino; four stepchildren, Cherisa (Ray) Carroll, Jennifer (Mark) Atzemis, Christina Chandler and Larry Flint; a brother, Tom (Shirley) Rice; a sister, Mary (Roger) Lyons; six grandchildren, Vanessa Thompson, Eddie Thompson Jr., Sibila Merlino, Elizabeth Butto, Dominic Butto and Raymond Boggs III; and eight stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sarah Rice, on Feb. 12, 2012.
Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Monday at Guerriero Funeral Home, 1550 W. 19th St., Ashtabula. Military honors will be conducted by the U.S. Air Force. Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
