HAMILTON (AP) - A teen charged with murder in the death of a group home resident in southwest Ohio has been found not guilty on that charge and guilty of a lesser charge of involuntary manslaughter.
A court official says jurors deliberated about two hours today in 18-year-old Lance Tiernan's trial. Tiernan was charged with murder in 16-year-old Anthony Parker's death. The murder charge carried a possible life sentence.
Authorities say Tiernan assaulted Parker on Dec. 19. Parker later was taken to a hospital, where he died Dec. 28 of head injuries.
Prosecutors played a video at the trial showing Tiernan slamming Parker to the floor.
Tiernan testified that he never intended serious harm. He said he became angry when Parker insulted his mother and told him no one cared about his problems.
