WARREN - Geraldine Adele Purdum, 94, passed away Monday, July 9, 2012, at Gillette Nursing Home in Warren.
She was born Geraldine Adele Lamb on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 29, 1917, in Portland, Maine, the daughter of Floyd Cecil and Jennie Vandusen Lamb.
Gerry graduated from high school in West Haven, Conn., in 1937. In 1940, she attended the Salvation Army Training College in New York City. She was an ordained minister, being commissioned as a Salvation Army lieutenant in 1941.

Gerry married Norman W. Purdum on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 25, 1943, and together they served Salvation Army Corps in various cities in the northeastern United States for 25 years. After her husband entered the ministry of the United Methodist Church, she worked by his side throughout his ministry. Gerry was a member of Howland United Methodist.
She is survived by her husband, Norman; three sons, Stan (Jeanine) of North Canton, Alan (Kathy) of Cortland and Robert "Scott" of Euclid; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Grace and Olive.
Memorial services will be held at a later date at Howland United Methodist Church.
