Grateful to SCOPE for help with mother

DEAR EDITOR:

I am writing to share my experience with the SCOPE adult day care program, located on Atlantic Avenue in Trumbull County.

Two years ago, I found myself in the term coined the "sandwich generation." My 86-year-old mother had developed dementia, could no longer live alone, and I was still raising a son in high school and working a full-time job.

My mother moved in with my family but could not be left home alone, so we began the search for day care. After several failed attempts, we tried SCOPE. From day one, I was thoroughly impressed. My mother loved going to "work." As an RN, with experience in geriatrics, I found the staff and care to be excellent. The nurse at the center was knowledgeable and professional.

Although my mother has passed away, I will forever be grateful to SCOPE for helping me keep my mother at home. I have very high standards, and I would highly recommend this program.
