CORTLAND CLASS OF 1961 TO MEET: The Cortland High School Class of 1961 will meet for breakfast at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Perkins Restaurant on Elm Road in Warren.
STRUTHERS CLASS TO MEET: The Struthers High School Class of 1956 will meet for the quarterly breakfast at 10 a.m. July 14 at the Bedford Trails Restaurant in Coitsville. All classmates are invited to attend.
RAYEN ALUMNI TO MEET: The Rayen School Classes of 1951 and 1952 are hosting a 60th-plus reunion, with all Rayen Alumni invited, from 1 to 4 p.m. Aug. 19 at Johnny's Restaurant, 7807 Market St., Boardman. The luncheon is $25 per person. Reservations are due by Aug. 5 and can be made by calling Kay Herberger at 330-579-1455.
FALLS 93RD REUNION CELEBRATED: The Newton Falls Schoolmates and Friends 93rd reunion was celebrated June 16 at DiVieste's Banquet Room in Warren. There were 355 people in attendance with Diana and Kenny Coss, Julia Gillespie, Bonita Hall, Rich Hyden and Mike Smolak welcoming all.
Retired teachers, school nurses and staff were invited. Those in attendance were Betty Bethel Force, Bob Force, Dick Glass, Mary Margret Gams Hildack, Patty Morris, Gertrude Pittman, Eleanor Shade, Elsie Whetzel and Gene Zorn.
Special recognition was given to nine schoolmates present from the years 1930 through 1944 - Robert Elmore, Dick Glass, Emily Kistler, Bea Lamport, Jean Lewis, Steve Mason, Lucille Moore, Daniel Shavers and Al Sipka. Special recognition was also paid to the most recent graduate present, Adam Dempsey, who graduated in 2005.
Winner of the "Keeper of the Town Pump" this year is Ed Buynacek. Mel Smith again traveled the farthest from San Diego and the Whaley family has the most members present again this year with nine.
Trustees reelected include Evelyn Ballas, Linda Bennight, Mary Margaret Hildack, Jim Paisley, Tom Palmer, Megan Perrine, Merial Price and Gary Stefaniak. Carol Whaley Guerrero volunteered to join the trustees.
The next reunion will be June 15, 2013, at DiVieste's. The class of 1963 will be honored for their 50th anniversary.
