Joseph R. Harcarik 1926-2012

WARREN - Joseph R. Harcarik, 85, of Warren, formerly of Newton Falls, passed away Saturday, June 30, 2012, at Community Skilled Nursing Center.

Joseph was born July 4, 1926, in Weirton, W.Va., the son of Joseph M. and Marie Kochera Harcarik.

He served in the United States Army during World War II in the Pacific Theatre. Joseph was in the Eighth Army Glider Corps and was in the first landing in Japan for the occupation.

Joseph retired from Van Huffel Tube Co.

He attended SS. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church. He enjoyed playing the violin and other musical instruments. Also, Joseph was a former Warren City Bowling Champion.

Joseph leaves three brothers, Thomas R. (Angela) Harcarik of Warren, Theodore C. (Shirley) Harcarik of Warren and Robert E. Harcarik of Niles; two sisters, Dorothy Mance of Willoughby and Carol Williams of Florida; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by a brother, John Harcarik, and two sisters, Rosemarie Shinosky and Kathryn Swindler.

Calling hours will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Sinchak and Sons Funeral Home. The funeral service will take place at 10:30 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. James P. Walker officiating.

Burial will be at SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery.
