WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - Joe Wendle impressed for the Scrappers, going 3-for-6 with four RBI
With a 2-0 lead in the fourth, he drove home his first run by singling home Hairo Kelly. Wendle struck again in the Scrappers' four-run sixth. He doubled home Kelly and Tyler Naquin, before Charlie Valerio and a Yan Carlos Olmo miscue in right field made it 7-0 scrappers.
Wendle's final RBI came in the seventh, when he grounded out to score Kelly again. The top four in the order for Mahoning Valley combined to go 9-for-17 with five walks and six RBI.
Starting pitcher Ryan Merritt threw six innings, scattered six hits, struck out four, and only walked one for the Scrappers.
Williamsport's lone run came in the bottom half of the seventh. After Mitch Walding hit a double off the wall in left, Olmo sent a grounder to short to bring him home.
