WARREN - The Board of Directors of Someplace Safe announced this morning that they have entered into an agreement with Family & Community Services of Portage County to merge their operation effective Sunday.
Officials from both agencies said the merger will allow Someplace Safe, a provider of services to victims of domestic violence in Trumbull County, to continue operations uninterrupted in its current Warren location.
Officials said the merger was triggered largely by funding cuts on the federal, state and local level.
Family & Community Services and Someplace Safe share the same mission, vision and values something that is very important to both agencies, officials said.
Someplace Safe Director, Linda Baer-Bigley, said, "The demand for our services continues to grow. Were seeing more families impacted by domestic violence. This relationship with Family & Community Services will allow us to continue to make strides in providing new resources to our clients."
