NILES - Daniel R. Hurst, 63, passed away peacefully at 10:20 p.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2012, at his residence with his family at his side, following a seven-year illness.
Dan was born July 13, 1948, in Youngstown, the son of Howard H. and Anna Eileen Class Hurst, and had lived in this area all this life.
Dan was a 1966 graduate of Niles McKinley High School, of the Catholic faith, and a medic in the United States Army from 1966 to 1968.

He was employed for 28 years for Packard Electric Co. as a jack stacker, and retired in 2001.
Following his retirement, he enjoyed building wood furniture and other woodworking items, and was the owner of a race car under D and D racing.
He is survived by his wife, the former Peggy Takach, whom he married July 5, 1996; a sister, Maureen (Michael) Woodward of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; and a cousin, Lisa (Karl) Fauvie, and their children, Jonathon and Katie Ann, of Mineral Ridge.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home. At Dan's request, services and burial at Ressurection Cemetery will be private.
The family would like to especially thank Dr. William Eddy of Niles, Dr. Matthew Cooney and nurses Camille and Kim at Cleveland University Hospital for their years of excellent care.
