The 32nd annual Small Ships Revue sets sail in downtown Sharon, Pa., on Friday, kicking off a weekend of events.
A pre-launch parade through downtown Sharon starts at 6 p.m., and the watercrafts will hit the Shenango River at 7 p.m. The Small Ships Revue is a "build your own boat - anything floats'' regatta.
Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place as well as in such categories as ''most unique'' and ''most patriotic.'' A panel of local celebrities will be on hand to do the judging. More than $5,000 in cash and prizes, including $1,000 for the first-place crew, will be awarded. All participants will receive a commemorative T-shirt.
Live entertainment will feature Graphic Pink and Pipedreams starting at 8 p.m. Friday at the Quaker Steak & Lube complex, and a fireworks display by Zambelli Fireworks starts at 10:15 p.m.
Entertainment on Saturday will include the AC/DC tribute band Thunderstruck at 5 p.m., followed by a Lady Gaga impersonator, the KISS tribute band Strutter and headliner BonJourney at 9 p.m.
Quaker Family Fun Day from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday will include children's games, bouncers, slides, face painting, magic shows and other activities.
Admission to all events is free.
