Phyllis C. Young 1921-2012

WARREN - Phyllis C. Young, 91, of Howland Township, died 2:35 a.m., Sunday, June 24, 2012, at Shepherd of the Valley in Howland.

She was born Feb. 17, 1921, in Brighton, Mass., the daughter of William J. and Mary L. Gould Timmins.

Phyllis came to Warren in 1949 and was a full-time wife and mother. She attended LaSalle College in Boston. She was a member of St. James Church and was president of the Service League at St. Joseph Hospital.

Her husband, James J. Young, whom she married June 18, 1949, died Jan. 8, 2003.

She is survived by her children, Carol (Mike) Resko of West Chester, Pa., William J. (Mary) Young of Denver, Colo., Valerie (Daniel) Cahill of Worthington, Rosemary (David) Grooms of San Diego, Calif., James J. (Claire) Young Jr. of Portland Ore., Mary Christine (Steve) Sensabaugh of Herndon, Va., Phillip L. (Estelita) Young of Dallas, Texas, and Dianne (Jeff) Winters of Williamsburg, Va.; son-in-law Dr. Raymond Mager of Milwaukee; 23 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Janet Mager; brother, Dr. William J. Timmins; and a sister, Valerie Timmins.

Calling hours will be 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and 9 to 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. James Church with the Rev. James P. Walker officiating.

Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery, Cortland.
