GIRARD - Arlene A. Battaglia, 74, of Girard, passed away early Monday morning, June 25, 2012, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, after an extended illness.
She was born June 17, 1938, in Sharon, Pa., the daughter of John and Margaret Mastrian Fahr.
Arlene graduated from Farrell High School in 1956 and attended college. She was a switchboard operator for Westinghouse in Sharon, Pa.

Arlene was involved with Girl Scouts at Our Lady of Fatima in Farrell.
Arlene enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren; they gave her strength and determination to live each day to the best of her ability. She was a beacon of love and strength to all her grandchildren.
She married John D. Battaglia on May 13, 1961. John passed away July 28, 2009.
Arlene is survived by a son, John (Melissa) Battaglia of McDonald; three daughters, Mary (Remo) DiFelice of Austintown, Carla (Patrick) Tondo of Girard, and Ann (Mark) Biamonte of Girard; and her grandchildren, Patrick, Morgan and Nick, Gianna, CaraMia, Isabella, Carmen and Roman.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and an infant sister, Donna.
Family will receive friends and family from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at McClurkin Funeral Home in Girard, where there will be a rosary service at 7 p.m.
There will be a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Rose Church in Girard. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
