YOUNGSTOWN - An infant girl has been hospitalized with multiple injuries, including a cracked skull, and a woman who was providing her care is in custody, according to a Youngstown police report.

A condition Sunday for the 6-month-old, taken to Akron Children's Hospital in Akron from its Mahoning Valley location in Youngstown Saturday, was unavailable. The baby had been listed in serious condition before being transferred to Akron, according to the report.

Scheduled to appear in Youngstown Municipal Court today on charges of child endangering and felonious assault is Brenda Moore, 51, 412 Cohasset Drive.

According to the report, the child's aunt noticed a number of injuries to the girl when she picked her up Saturday afternoon at a home on Cohasset Drive. Later, when the woman undressed the child, she had a bruised chest and her right thigh was swollen, the woman told police.

A doctor at the hospital told police the baby had a fractured skull and was bleeding in her head, according to the report. The girl also had a fractured rib that was healing.

A woman at the home on Cohasset Drive told police she had put two babies down for a nap and when she checked on them about 30 minutes later, both had fallen out of the bed onto an electronic house arrest monitor, the report says.

Mahoning County Children Services took custody of a child at the home, the report states.
