YOUNGSTOWN - A man was shot dead outside a South Side bar early Friday morning, and another man was arraigned later in the day in connection to a murder last week also on the South Side.

Curtis Moses, 40, who managed the Partners Jazz and Blues Lounge on Oak Hill Avenue, was gunned down outside the bar about 2:45 a.m.

His death is the 16th homicide in the city this year. In 2011, the city did not record its 16th murder until Oct. 8. There were 23 homicides in Youngstown in 2011.

Nine of the 16 homicides in the city this year have been on the South Side.

Police reports state that Moses was walking to his car when someone walked up, fired several shots and ran away west on Falls Avenue.

Police collected 13 spent shell casings for evidence and towed cars - one of them belonging to Moses - that were struck by gunfire.
