Woodland Park plans fun summer

Woodland Park in McDonald will be buzzing with activity this summer with activities and programs for all ages.

The park, which officially opened June 6, is hosting movie night each Tuesday, with the exception of one Wednesday on Aug. 1. Park movies will begin at 8:45 p.m.

Between noon and 3 p.m. today, residents can stop at the park for a free popsicle in celebration of the first day of summer. Storytime at the gazebo will be held at noon each Monday through July 23 and the John Pete Checker Tournament will begin at noon June 29 at the pavilion.

Additional activities include:

Tie-dye Day, from 1 to 4 p.m. June 27. Bring one item to tie dye, such as shirts, shorts and socks.

Concerts in the Park from 7 to 8:30 p.m. beginning July 12 to Aug. 16 in Ramsay Pavilion.

Safety Day will be held at noon July 13. Prepare questions for village police, paramedics and firefighters. Prizes will be awarded to participants.

Beach Day will be held July 18. The event will include sprinklers, the pool, beach balls, sand castle supplies, frisbees, games, lemonade, crafts and more.

Ice Cream Sundae Day will be from noon to 2 p.m. Aug. 10 at the pavilion.

The Park Closing Event will be held Aug. 16. A picnic will follow the event with food, games and prizes. More information and forms can be picked up at the village municipal building after July 13.

Park attendants for the 2012 season are Katie Politano, Kyle Joynes, Paige Eckman, Rachel Jones, Justin White and Katie Little.
