She utilized her strong people, social and managerial skills to later manage Housewares Outlet, the Country Clothes Closet, the Burghill Country Inn and Antiques Boutique. In 2000, she retired as a manager of LCI.

Thorn, who solely cared for her during her battle with pancreatic cancer; her three sons, Robert Joseph (Jackie) Thorn of Brownsville, Pa., Michael Eric Thorn of Burghill and David Allen Thorn of Chagrin Falls; six grandchildren, Michael Jr., Ryan, Ben, Jordan, Jillian and Jeremy; one great-grandson, Hunter; and a great-granddaughter yet to be born.
