CHAMPION - The Trumbull County Probate Court will sponsor a senior safety summit Friday at Kent State at Trumbull administration building, 4314 Mahoning Ave., featuring Dr. Armon Shayesteh and Trumbull County Probate Court Judge Thomas A. Swift.
The event is part of National Elder Abuse Awareness Month and will include discussion on senior court and Guardian Angels.
Registration is 9 to 10 a.m. and the summit is from from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Shayesteh, a board certified nutritionist and diabetes educator, will discuss nutrition, weight loss and wellness. Swift, who serves on national and statewide committees to prevent elder abuse, will speak on scams and frauds targeted at senior citizens.
The free event will include door prizes, health screenings, and medical tests and displays. Various vendors and exhibitors will showcase items of interest to seniors.
There also will be document shredding and free smoke detectors.
