CORTLAND - Carl Clark, 84, entered into eternal rest at 6:40 p.m. Thursday, June 7, 2012, at his residence, surrounded by his family and following a lengthy illness.
Carl was born Aug. 21, 1927, in Brookfield, the son of the late Walter and Ruby McCartney Clark, and was a lifelong area resident.
He was a graduate of Brookfield High School and was employed with the East Ohio Gas Corp. as a pipefitter for 32 years, retiring from his duties in 1989.
Carl was of the Protestant faith, and enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking and working outdoors, along with spending quality time with his family.
He was a 42-year member of the Cortland Conservation Club and had faithfully served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
In January of 1962, Carl was united into marriage with the former Heather Ada Williams and they shared 50 years together. His memory will be remembered and cherished by those he dearly leaves behind, his wife, Heather Ada Clark; two sons, Carl W. (Karrie) Clark of Cortland and Robert B. (Jo) Clark of Mecca; two daughters, Barbara J. (Larry) Sprockett of Cortland and Elizabeth F. (Bill) Zaben of Vienna; 15 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Faye Clary.
Family services will be held and there will be no visitation. A celebration of Carl's life will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Cortland Conservation Club, 3931 McCleary Jacoby Road, Cortland, Ohio.
