FOWLER - Elizabeth Evelyn "Jean" McMahon, 82, died Thursday morning, June 7, 2012, at Shepherd of the Valley in Niles. Her journey has just begun.
She was born July 3, 1929, in New Kensington, Pa., the daughter of the late Frank and Ethel Johnston Artman.
Jean was a 1947 graduate of New Kensington High School and attended nursing school. She retired in 1985 from Packard Electric, where she worked for more than 25 years.

Jean was a member of the American Hungarian Reformed Church in Youngstown. She enjoyed traveling, reading, computers, crocheting, camping and fishing, especially trout fishing. Jean was an animal lover and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Her first husband, Fred V. George Sr., whom she married Sept. 30, 1949, preceded her in death in 1978. She was also preceded in death by her second husband, Lynn McMahon; and a brother, Robert E. Artman.
Jean is survived by four daughters, Debra L. Giardullo of York Springs, Pa., Susan D. (Thomas) Cleland of Fowler, Cynthia B. (Scott) Chepke of Farmingdale, Maine, and Kathleen A. Slifko of Cambridge; a son, Fred V. (Tianna) George Jr. of Marysville, Pa.; 15 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Roberts-Clark Chapel in Warren, with Pastor Ellen Krokenberger officiating. The family will receive friends from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday prior to the service. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Arnold, Pa.
