The Class of 2012 will graduate from Girard High School at 2 p.m. today, June 3, at Girard's Arrowhead Stadium.
The class motto is: "Take pride in how far you have come, have faith in how far you can go." Class colors are red and black and the class flower is Gerber daisy. The song they have chosen is "How Far We've Come.''
Speaking at the commencement ceremony will be valeditorians Bryanna Jay and Erik DelBene and salutatorian Patrick Bornemiss.

The top 10 students in the Girard senior class were profiled by Girard High School student Marissa Hollis.
Erik DelBene is one of the co-valedictorians for the senior class of 2012. He is the son of Cathy and Bob DelBene and plans to attend Youngstown State University while majoring in pre-optometry. His advice to freshman is "study hard and you'll be able to do very well in any class."
Bryanna Jay is the other co-valedictorian for the senior class of 2012. She is the daughter of Jeff and Dorice Jay. She plans to major in biology/pre-med while attending Wittenberg University. Her advice to freshman is "Have fun! But when you need to be serious, get the job done quickly and efficiently. You only get this chance once, so live it up because it goes faster than you think."
Patrick Bornemiss, the salutatorian, is the son of Ken and Christine Bornemiss. He plans to go to Youngstown State University while majoring in exercise science / pre- physical therapy. His advice to freshman is "do your best, have a lot of fun, and get involved with different activities."
David Meigs is the son of Gregory and Sheryl Meigs. He is going to major in mechanical engineering at The University of Toledo. His advice to freshman is "Have a good balance between fun and studying. Don't stress out too much."
Patrick Hyden, the son of John and Martha Hyden, will go to Youngstown State University where he will major in mechanical engineering. His advice to freshman is "try to stay focused and determined in school. It will be the best preparation for a future career or schooling."
Lisa Dean is the daughter of Mary and Jack Dean. She will major in elementary and special education at Youngstown State University. Her advice to freshman is "make every day count because it goes by very fast. Study hard and enjoy it, you won't get the time back."
Katrina Bachman, the daughter of Bob and Michelle Bachman, is going to attend Kent State University. Her advice to freshman is "challenge yourself, but don't overload. Once you do, you completely shut down. Know your limits and push them wisely."
Miranda Boarts, the daughter of Sue Boarts, plans to attend Youngstown State University. She will major in biology / pre-dentistry. Her advice to freshman is "work hard through high school, and don't slack off or college will be next to impossible. You have it easy now, take advantage of it and just do the work!"
Stephanie Burke is the daughter of Helen and Dennis Burke. She plans to major in business while attending Youngstown State University. Her advice to freshman is "take your grades seriously, it's important to start off with a good GPA. Have fun and enjoy your high school years. Be open to making new friends and don't take anything for granted."
Matthew LaLama, the son of Virginia and Emilio LaLama, plans to attend Youngstown State University as a chemistry major. His advice to freshman is "put forth full effort in all your classes, get involved in after school activities and make friends with your classmates and the staff."
