Packard museum hosts robotics teams

''FIRST Robotics Day at the Museum'' is planned from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the National Packard Museum, 1899 Mahoning Ave. N.W., Warren.

Visitors will be able to see the robots up close and learn about FIRST robotics and its history in the Mahoning Valley. Students and mentors who are on FIRST Robotics Competition teams from Warren G. Harding, Champion, Girard and Austintown Fitch High Schools will be on hand to demonstrate their "Rebound Rumble" robots to the public. For younger students, robots and the playing field from this year's FIRST LEGO League "Food Factor" game challenge will be demonstrated and other hands-on LEGO activities will be offered.

Admission is free and open to adults and students ages 10 and older. For more information, call 330-394-1899.

Volunteers need for arts festival

Youngstown State University is looking for volunteers for its 14th Summer Festival of the Arts on July 7 and 8.

Volunteers are needed for artist registration, information booths, in the children's hands-on art tent, for technical assistance at performance sites and at the Festival of Nations international area. Various shifts are available for the two-day event. Each volunteer receives a Festival tee shirt, cold water and reserved free parking.

Those needing service hours logged for National Honor Society or sorority/fraternity service are invited to participate. Service verification forms will be completed.
