Trumbull Career an Technical Center

According to the state of Ohio, healthier foods and overall student wellness may lead to increased learning.

In 2010 Ohio Senate Bill 210, the healthy choices for the healthy children act, became a law. This law contains provisions to fight obesity by increasing student's physical activity and ensuring access to healthy meals and beverages at schools.

At the Trumbull Career & Technical Center, the move towards healthier lifestyles began years before the mandate.

Jerry Gorgie, supervisor of TCTC cafeteria, stated that; our food service staff is generally concerned with serving healthy meals. We have been serving healthy foods for years.

Kelsie Tondo got her Nutrition Degree from Youngstown State University (YSU). This was more for fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.

According to Jason Gray, Trumbull Career and Technical Center director, we believe in overall wellness for staff and students.

Trumbull Career and Technical Center formed a wellness committee and dedicated the last day of school to student fitness and wellness with a wide variety of exercise programs, such as Zoomba, Walking, Fitness Boot Camp,
