VOLUNTEERS NEEDED TO HELP WITH PLACING FLAGS ON GRAVES: Volunteers are being sought to place flags on veterans' graves for Memorial Day. Placement will take place at 9 a.m. Friday and May 25 at Pineview Cemetery and 9 a.m. Saturday and May 26 at Oakwood Cemetery.
FEATURES OF THE BACKYARD: A program about backyard water features will be held at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Liberty Library Branch, 415 Churchill Hubbard Road. The free program will be presented by the Trumbull Soil and Water Conservation District.
ART FESTIVAL SHOWCASES STUDENTS' WORK: Girard City Schools Fine and Performing Arts Festival will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the high school on Shannon Road. More than 300 student art projects will be on display as well as band, theater and vocal performances from grades K-12.

SAFETY INITIATIVE TRAINING SET: Warren Safety Initiative training will be held at 6 p.m. today in the roll call room at the Warren Police Department, 141 South St. The two-hour training is for anyone interested in starting a block watch, currently in a block watch organization or for those who want to learn how to be effective "eyes and ears" for the police.
