Tomato plants free to visitors

FREE TOMATO PLANTS TO MUSEUM VISITORS: The Ward Thomas House, 503 Brown St., Niles will be open from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday. A free tomato plant will be given to each adult who tours the museum. Tour donation for adults is $5 with children younger than 12 admitted for free with an adult. Free parking is available. For information, call 330-544-2143.

ALUMNI BANQUET TIME CHANGE: There has been a time change for the North Bloomfield Alumni Banquet on Saturday at St. William Social Hall in Champion. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and dinner will be at 7 p.m.

UNITED WAY TO HOLD MEETING: The annual meeting of the Community Corporation, parent organization of the United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley, will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Lake Club, 1140 Paulin Road, Poland. Doors open at 5:00 p.m. for a hors d'oeuvres buffet followed by the program at 6 p.m. Reservations are $25 per person and can be made by calling 330-746-8494.

SOCIETY SPEAKER TO MEET: American Society for Quality, Youngstown-Warren Section 0805, will meet Thursday at Cafe 422, Youngstown Road S.E. Speaker Sarah Boyarko will provide an overview of the Regional Chamber's economic development services and recap 2011. This is the last section meeting until next fall and will be held jointly with the American Society for Metals. Cost is $12 for members with reservations and $16 for non-members and members without reservations. BOXING ASSOCIATION TO HOST AUCTION: The Warren Boxing Association Inc. will host a vendor party and Chinese auction from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at the boxing hall, 418 Main Ave. S.W., Warren. There will be a 50-50 raffle. Event raises funds for the nonprofit association, which trains males or females age 8 and older to box.
